The westerly facing hillside estate is blessed with dark well drained alluvial soils ideally suited to produce rich and complex wines.
Petite Sirah, our vine stock was sourced from one of the first vineyards planted in Sonoma, a black skinned grape named after its discoverer, Dr. Francois Durif from the Rhone in 1880.
Known for its structure, extraordinary deep color and full-bodied flavors, long age worthy tannin finishes with the ability to age and improve for decades. Our vines produce small, intensely colored berries that produce powerful, fruity, dense wines that are inky dark and offer flavors of expresso, mocha, black pepper, blackberries, blueberries, plums, spice and licorice and lavender.
Built to last, we recommend you enjoy our wines over 10-15 years to show their true potential.
Primitivo, (Clonally similar to Zinfandel, its American kin) Our vine stock was sourced from one of the first vineyards planted in Sonoma, a dark-skinned red wine grape with medium tannin and acidity.
The first documented use of the term Primitivo appears in Italian publications in the 1870’s. The name derives from the terms Primativus which refer to the grape's tendency to ripen earlier than other varieties. Our Vines produce juicy, sweet concentrated fruit flavors, classic spice and peppery characters its known for, red and black fruits; strawberries, plums, red and blackberries, with notes of Star Anise, Smoke, Coffee, Cinnamon, Clove, Tobacco.
Normally best consumed within 5 years of the vintage our wines are built to last and we recommend 5-10 years to show its true potential.
Our “Upper Block” vineyard which was planted in the summer of 2019 is sweet revenge after the tumultuous fires of 2017 ravaged our hillside. We are proud to pay homage our Italian heritage planting Corvina (our winemakers longtime dream) while continuing to stay true to our California roots, planting Cabernet Sauvignon - Clone 7 and a little more Petite Sirah - Durif Clone. The first harvest will be 2022.
